If you are an eagle,
hawk, osprey or kestrel looking for that special nesting place, you've come
to the right place. AEP, in partnership with state park, tourism and wildlife
agencies, as well as local community groups, is building and installing nesting
platforms for raptors such as yourself in some of your favorite places. You'll
find the price to be right -- we'll provide a raptor condo to you absolutely
free. We would love to help you and your mate have a safe nest site and hopefully
hatch some little birds of your own.
Here's how it works. Agency experts pick the location for the condo in
a park or on AEP's land. AEP supplies the materials and a mounting pole,
and installs the pole. Since AEP has a huge network of wires and poles for
delivering electricity in a number of states, we know how to install poles!
A youth, church or other local group actually builds the platform. The raptor
condo program has been certified by the Wildlife
Habitat Council, so we know you'll like the condos that are constructed.
The humans
that partner together to build your perched condo will enjoy watching you
in your new home; they will tell others of your nesting success. In fact,
they'll most likely have their picture taken with your new abode and post
those pictures at this web site along with an e-mail address for the "landlord" who
will be keeping tabs on you and your nest.

Some
of the planned 75 condos have already been built, so your new dream home
may be all ready to move into. By the way, you might check out AEP's FalconCam in
this web site. During the nesting season, you'll see some of your falcon
buddies on almost-live video from 26 stories up in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Plus
you'll learn about other AEP programs to help you and your feathered friends.
You can see typical condos which have already been installed in Ohio , Kentucky,
and Indiana. I've heard that you humans have gotten
a little smarter and use 16 foot long 4x4 posts now since they are much lighter
to carry to our favorite scenic (and meal) spots. Keep up the good work!
If you are a human and want to build a condo for a raptor (and have your
picture taken), click on the state below where you live. This will send a
request to AEP's state office environmental affairs manager and they'll get
you started.
