Dear Friends:
From its formation almost 100 years ago, Public Service Company of Oklahoma has always been dedicated to service – providing safe, reliable electricity to our 531,000 Oklahoma customers, and working for the betterment of communities across our state.
Our 1,690 Oklahoma employees share a commitment to improve the well-being of our communities and to provide a better quality of life for all Oklahomans. Our employees annually invest thousands of hours of volunteer work at schools, community events, civic projects, mentoring young people, and working hard to ensure the success of the nonprofit agencies and civic causes across our great state. We also provide financial support to the organizations for which our employees volunteer, through our AEP Connects “Dollars for Doers” grant program.
As a good corporate citizen, PSO provides financial support to hundreds of worthy organizations that contribute to the well-beingand vitality of the communities we serve. Through the link below, we list the charitable nonprofit organizations, programs and community events that received a donation from us at a level of $500 or more in 2009.
Moreover, as part of the American Electric Power system, PSO has supported the awarding of grants from the American Electric Power Foundation to a number of important projects and organizations in Oklahoma.
The AEP Foundation contributed a total of $400,000 within PSO’s service area in 2009 to support higher education, housing, basic needs and the arts. Significantly, the AEP Foundation provided the initial $150,000 gift to a Tulsa Community Challenge Grant which raised $1 million for nineteen Tulsa area nonprofit agencies that provide basic needs and health services. The AEP Foundation also provided $150,000 grant to upgrade Habitat for Humanity homes to meet Energy Star standards.
In 2009, PSO’s own contributions of $500 and above to charitable nonprofit entities totaled more than $421,000, primarily in the areas of education and the environment.
We’re proud of the significant role we play in the success of important community organizations and programs, and we appreciate the opportunity to serve you.
